Muscle soreness - a good sign?
posted 1 week ago
Muscle soreness does not technically correlate to muscle growth. It can be an indicator that, you’re working the right muscle group (i.e. your hamstrings and glutes are sore after RDLs)
Soreness is typically the effect of a novel stimulus. That means you’ve done something new or worked out harder.
As you more regularly exercise, you’ll likely experience soreness less frequently. If your goal is hypertrophy, you may be slightly limiting yourself if you’re working out sore. You probably won’t be increasing in reps or weight on a day that you’re working out sore.

Interesting insight. I always thought pain = damage = repair but actually it’s simply novel stimulus.
When you start a new exercise it takes a lot of neural adaption before hypertrophy will even occur over so makes sense that soreness doesn’t = muscle growth.
